Living in Canada since 1958 and loving it. We live in zone 5.
When I say we I mean, my D.H. Charlie and I. Children have 'flown the nest'. We also have 2 cats, Simba (male) and Kaya (female) that really are like
children. It's uncanny.
We live on 7.2 acres of land that is divided in Wetland, Parkland with lots of beautiful old trees and garden land. Although gardening is a constant struggle
since the trees create an intricate network of roots which have to be dug out every few years. The other challenge here is that we are inundated with large
rocks many of which lie just beneath the surface. So in order to plant a bush or large plant we have to dig out many rocks first. But we love it here, the
air is clear, noise is at a minimum and we have good access to a main road. In winter we are never snowed in since the township snow removal team works day and
night to keep the roads clear at all times. That is a bonus even our big city nearby does not have.
